President's Message - VIA Ontario Retirees

December 12, 2010

This is my first personal note to our membership. Over the years I have seen many changes. One of the pleasures of being President is getting together with VIA retirees at our bi-annual Luncheons. We exchange the good things happening in our lives. We share our concerns and remember friends from our membership who are now resting in peace.
Also, we are updated about anything interesting that is happening at VIA Rail. An indicator of why our membership has grown over the years is concern about our pensions.
Our National Committee works relentlessly on protecting and improving VIA pension benefits. I invite each and every VIA retiree to attend our luncheon meetings to get current information and to be more involved in the Association's activities.
A special note of thanks is owed to our National Committee for all their labor and helpful guidance in keeping us on track and regularly updated with pertinent information. VIA Rail Pensioners' Association continues to flourish because of the willingness and work of the VIA Rail Retirees' Committees. For your own benefit, I ask that you all join together and support your local Association.
In closing, on behalf of your regional executive and me, we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! We look forward to seeing you all at our next luncheon in April, 2011.
